Are you excited about the confinement date nearing? Obviously, it is going to be a mash of emotions. Fear, excitement, anticipation and sometimes even the need to cry is commonly felt by new moms to be!

And shopping for your yet to be born baby is one of the best things about all this baby business! So, here are some tips to help you buy the necessities!

Draw up a list of things and the budget

The first thing you need to do is to write up a list for the things that you will be needing. It is very important that you have a list and try to stick to it as much as possible. Because you are definitely going to be persuaded by the business owners to buy things that you won’t even need. For instance, the sales person will tell you that the steamer for the baby’s things is one of the most important and it will be very high priced. But you can use a regular steamer for the purpose. So you are simply wasting your money if you already have a steamer at home! Having a list will help keep you on track and you will be able to stick to the list!

The necessities for the hospital

There are specific items that you will need to take the hospital for the confinement. Most probably the hospital will have a list of things that they will give you. Most often the list includes: a few clothes for the new born, nappies, pampers, socks, a flannel, a towel, clothes that are easy to change into for the mother, flat slippers for the mother, other baby essentials like cologne and some hospitals may even advise you to bring your own bathing essentials like a little tub for the baby. But in most cases it is given by the hospital itself! Just make sure to call up your hospital or visit them and ask what are the necessities before going shopping.

Pampers and nappies

You will need to buy pampers and nappies for the babies. It will be a very difficult choice to make. Because you will need to decide whether you are going to be using nappies or pampers mainly. Nappies are recommended for the new borns especially because pampers have chemical components and there are chances of getting rashes due to the urine. So it is best if you could get them nappies. There are disposable nappies that you can use as well. Just make sure you stock enough!

The shopping never ends! Literally never! You will however need to be purchasing a cupboard for the babies clothes, a cot, mattress, a bumper for the cot, pillows, the creams, nappy rash, powder, cologne, a baby monitor, soothers, some toys, clothes for the baby, socks and shoes, many flannels, wet wipes of course! And not forgetting the car seat, bouncer and carrier! The list just keeps expanding! You need to make sure the essentials are set first and then get the rest!
